Maher Advisors, Inc. was formed in 1995 by Sean Maher as a merger and acquisition firm.  Throughout its history, Maher Advisors and Maher & Associates have also provided a variety of business services to the wine industry. 

Sean Maher started Maher Advisors after an eight-year career as a broker at Cushman & Wakefield, a New York based Rockefeller Group company. At Cushman & Wakefield Sean specialized in commercial leasing and investment sales and sold or leased over $120,000,000 in aggregate value of real estate.  Since 1995, Sean and his firm has focused on mergers and acquisitions, equity investments, management consulting and strategic sales and marketing within the wine industry.  Sean has successfully completed assignments for clients such as Beringer Blass Wine Estates, Bill Hambrecht, Taittinger Family, and the Mirrasou family.  Sean received his undergraduate degree from UCLA and has a MBA from St. Mary’s College of Moraga.  Sean has been a licensed real estate broker since 1987.

Dick Maher started Maher & Associates  in 1992 as a consulting company.  Dick has served as the President of Beringer Vineyards, the Seagram Wine Company, Christian Brothers Winery and Heublein Fine Wines (Beaulieu Vineyards, Inglenook, Christian Brothers,  Gustave Niebaum, Quail Ridge, and Rutherford Estates). He is a past Chairman of the California Wine Institute and was both President of the Napa Valley Vintners Association and Chairman of the Napa Valley Wine Auction in 1989. He was a Governor Wilson appointee to S.F. Regional Water Quality Board last serving as Vice Chair.  Dick Maher received a Bachelor of Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute  and an MBA from Stanford University after serving three years as an officer in the United States Marine Corps.
